Thanks to my loyal collectors and friends, our July 10th sale became a wonderful day where interesting conversations about art were struck up and lots of works of art changed hands. Thank you all!
Polderland Gallery was founded in 2005 by Dutch artist Marina Broere.
I moved to the US in the year 2000 and decided to open the gallery after moving into a studio in the Arts Building. I found that the space was large enough to combine both painting (my main objective) as well as showing art. The goal was to do two shows a year and a different kind of event during the December month coinciding with the Art Crawl that has been held twice a year at the building.
Besides my work as an artist, I had been a curator for art shows in the town where I lived, and greatly enjoyed the process of hanging shows and working together with other artists.
Art works by itself can be very exciting, but placed in the context of a show a different kind of energy emerges and makes it even more exciting as a whole.
I prefer to show a body of work by one artist to showing a few pieces by a number of artists because I think you get what an artist is about better by seeing more of his work.
